Chimukle Sur

A musical art immersion class that teaches language and culture to infants and toddlers.

Chimukle Sur is MAI's signature 'Mommy/Daddy & Me'class designed for children aged 4 months to 3 years. The class creates an interactive learning environment through age-appropriate Marathi balgeete, shlok, and Hindustani classical music, enabling rhythm, movement, melody, and language development.

With a belief that pattern recognition and creative development begin much earlier, every session is thoughtfully designed to support an infant's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. It also aims to create an unforgettable bonding experience between the parent and child and to foster love for the Marathi language and culture.

The class was conceptualized by Dr. Sayli Natu, a medical professional and classical dancer, and under her direction is led by Sarika Natu and Dr. Pallavi Murugkar, both trained classical dancers and vocalists with 15 years of performance experience.

Chimukle Sur currently operates four batches across Fremont and San Jose in the Bay Area, California. To enroll, parents can email the program directly at chimuklesur@marathiaai.org. If a batch is full, you will be added to the waitlist and contacted as soon as a spot opens up. We plan on expanding the program to children ages 3 to 5, with both age groups eventually available across North America.

Who Is It For

Chimukle Sur is a 'Mommy/Daddy & Me' music immersion  class where infants learn in the comfort of their parents' presence. The class does not require a child or a parent to come with knowledge of the musical arts. But we encourage you to come in with a spirit of enjoyment of the class and a willingness to sing, play, and celebrate Marathi culture together.

What We Explore

With a carefully curated blend of music and interactive activities, children are introduced to:

  • Marathi Balgeete (children's songs)

  • Age-appropriate Marathi film songs for young children

  • Hindustani classical music, introducing foundational concepts of raag and taal

Music serves as a bridge to language, culture, and early childhood learning.

Learning Through Music

Every session incorporates activities that support holistic development, including:

  • Marathi shlok to develop pronunciation, listening skills, and language fluency

  • Movement and instrument-based rhythm activities that strengthen gross and fine motor skills

  • Interactive musical play that encourages creativity, confidence, and social interaction

  • Foundational language such as Devanagari letters and their sounds through music and rhythm

  • Storytime that builds vocabulary, imagination, and teaches positive values

A Special Experience for Parent and Child

Chimukle Sur is more than a musical art class; it is a shared experience where parents and children sing, dance, play, and learn together. Through joyful participation, families strengthen their bond while nurturing a lifelong connection to the Marathi language and culture.

Whether it's your infant’s first rhythm or a toddler's first Marathi song, every session is filled with laughter, learning, and cherished memories. We encourage you to come join our waitlist as we open more batches in the future.

At Chimukle Sur, every melody inspires learning, every song celebrates Marathi heritage, and every moment strengthens the bond between parent and child.

Batches are currently open in Fremont and San Jose, California. We plan to open new locations in other parts of the United States soon. Stay tuned for updates on our website and social media, or email us at chimuklesur@marathiaai.org to be notified when new sessions become available in your area.
